IFAN’s CEO Peter Stanley welcomed the Pacific Community (SPC) Team to IFAN’s Headquarters in London, to discuss the progress of SPC’s Pacific Safety of Navigation project. The meeting was attended by IFAN’s Charitable Expenditure Committee members Ms Francesca Pradelli and Mr John Hughes, and SPC’s Ocean and Maritime Division staff Mr Jens Kruger and Mr Dii Thomas. SPC described its efforts to integrate the Pacific Safety of Navigation project into more of its ocean-related projects. SPC also informed IFAN of the positive response received from the presentation of the paper on the project’s results during the 72nd IMO Technical Cooperation Committee meeting held in London from the 17th to the 21st October.
IFAN has been sponsoring the Pacific Safety of Navigation project since 2016. The delivery of Safety of Navigation services in the Pacific is essential to enhance safety of life at sea and ensure the protection of the marine environment, while supporting sustainable development of remote Pacific communities.
