IFAN’s Board of Directors travelled to Bahrain to meet for the last meeting of the year. It was a great opportunity for the Board to reacquaint itself with IFAN’s subsidiary, Middle East Navigation Aids Service (MENAS), Head Office and discuss with the General Manager, Mahdi Al Mosawi, the various projects and work which they’ve been delivering for Bahrain’s Ports and Maritime Affairs (PMA) department and other authorities to maintain navigational safety in the region.
The Board meeting took place on the 29th of November and it welcomed a change of Chairman with Guy Mason taking the helm. Mr Mason thanked outgoing Chair, Alan Marsh, for his three years of service as Chairman and his willingness to remain on IFAN’s Board and his continued support in encouraging ship owners to pay MENAS navigational light dues to maintain safer trade routes for vessels and crew.
Mr Mason joined the Board in March, having retired form BP at the end of 2020 as Senior Vice President and Global Head of BP Shipping. Accepting the role, he said: “Alan Marsh has been an exemplary Chairman, so I look forward in following in his footsteps and continuing the charity’s good work to make oceans safer while trying to hold ship owners accountable for the safety of their vessels and crews onboard.”
